Sound designer for “Hold On Tight”

This is a trailer from a project I worked on recently as the sound designer. The music for the project was composed by Hugh Rogers.

The documentary, which features six real-life Irish couples, was made by writer-director Anna Rogers and producer Zlata Filipovic.

It was the winner of the ABSOLUT GAZE New Filmmakers’ Project, which was established to support new Irish talents through funding original lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) short films.

Director Rogers said: “Holding hands or kissing in public isn’t for everyone. When it comes to same sex relationships, showing your love outside of the home can be a complicated personal choice, with couples sometimes experiencing negative remarks, insults and even violence.

“This short documentary moves between the public and private spaces in which lesbian and gay couples live and explores small gestures of human connectedness.

Music editor for “Ondine”

In 2009 I worked with the writer and film director Neil Jordan as music editor on his independent feature film Ondine. Working alongside Neil and his longtime picture editor Tony Lawson has so far been the most inspiring  job I have had. It is true what they say about experience in the field. I learned more from those guys in six months than I could learn from two years in film college. I also had the pleasure of working closely with Kjartan Sveinsson the composer for the film. Kjartan is a member of the Icelandic post rock band Sigur Rós’s who’s music also features in the film.
