In 2010 the Irish writer & director Carmel Winters asked me to create a soundtrack to her film Snap. I had worked with Carmel before so we where familiar with each others work. I suggested that we should approach the soundtrack with more of a sound design method in mind than a traditional compositional one. Carmel wanted to create a bed of ambient textures to ebb and flow through the film, embellishing certain gestures and internal processes of the characters. Here are some examples of my work. The piano parts are played by the composer Anna Jordan who worked with me on the film.
The debut feature film from writer/director Carmel Winters and stars award winning Irish actress Eileen Walsh (EDEN, PURE MULE) and THE CLINIC star Aisling O’Sullivan in the lead roles. SNAP assembles a disturbing portrait of three generations of a family trapped in recreating a past that each one denies. Produced by Martina Niland (ONCE) in Samson Films.
